There are scripts just like that, but the loops...come on now. They were pretty much the same.
And I find it funny how some people are bagging on Johnny when he wasn't even the one who made it. So quick to judge before getting the complete facts.
Sadly when you become the captain of a ship, you become responsible for all of the crew.
Doubt if there is any large business around, that hasn't had its image tarnished by the actions of someone in their employ.
exactly. and to the person saying some of are too quick to blame jc , you shouldn't be so quick to think that he didnt know about it either... Since he isssss the one coming up with concepts. Ahem
Thats too bad that he had to stoop to that level, and to assume he didn't know is laughable at the least because, just like someone said, if your the captain of the ship then you know every working of the company, good or bad..
It's just a weird coincidence that he started his line with spoofs and designs riding the gray area when it comes to parody/infringement (example the jordan logo) and now he's dealing with it for a third time. I personally hes setting himself up for some big problems in the future that no amount of cupcakes can get you out of. I am suprised Jordan co. hasn't done anything about their original idea.

Parody can work well for some corporations. It gives extra publicity to their brand. It may possibly be that Jordan thought it would be of benefit to them in some way??
Its when parody becomes malicious, or undermines sales, that the lawyers suddenly appear from nowhere. It can be a real narrow road to tread.
There are millions of designs on the web and elswhere. If any of us were presented with an 'original' design, how could we be sure it was original??
I dont think JC had any ill intentions. That could have been a honest mistake. I think what being missed is the fact the problem was able to be resolve amicably with everyone walking away respectfully. I appreciate that fact more than anything else. thats being honorable. I think its silly to judge a situation after its been resolved like this. JC is fine and so is 126. Happy ending.

The only Captain that would know everything is the Captain of a 1 person Dingy. If there are at least 2 people in a company you never know everything going on. You may find out about things later but hopefully it doesn't sink your ship.
We are not talking about a large corporation here. Just small business man in a very competitive field. These companies know exactly whats going on in the business. Always looking for what they think will be the next direction with design and who is doing what. Sorry but these aren't honest mistakes. I'm sure everyone of you who has or is planing a line of goods does a lot of research and visits a lot of stores, websites, and checks out fashion mags for the next trend. You have to do your homework and if done well you make money. Thats the fashion business!
I don't think it makes much sense to assume that Johnny knew what was going on, and not even allow for the possibility that the person working for him simply lied. If you're getting paid to come up with original work, you're not all that likely to tell your employer you actually copied it when you submit it.

Solmu, I respect your opinion and your contributions but we custom print for a lot of designers, retail store, and small artists around the country. I see a number of very similar images all the time and these people follow trends. We moved our design studio to Williamsburg (Brooklyn) from Boston just to be near the cutting edge of fashion and every one knows the Tee shirt business here. There are more artists and screeners and tatoo artists here per capita than anywhere in the country and we see copying all the time. I doubt Johnny isn't watching market and just doing paperwork. From what I read he let everyone know that he got knocked off so he was keeping his eye on the market place. Let's face it, he just got caught and leave it at that.
None of which proves one whit that one specific person (Johnny) was aware of one specific design (from Onetwentysix). He blames the designer who works for him. We have absolutely no way of knowing that isn't true. I know I'm not aware of every t-shirt design ever made: if someone in my employ were to rip one off, it's a gamble whether or not I'd know.
I'm still yet to see a single good reason people can be so sure the man knew about it. As a company he has taken responsibility. As an individual... who knows if he knew in advance. Personally I'd say he didn't, not because of any ethical issues, but purely because he's a smart enough businessman to know this wouldn't have been a practical move.

So he's not held account when he did it the first time, not held accountable for this mishap, and his line was created with spoofs and play off other logos..
I am just saying I see a trend...After a few mishaps, I would only assume he knows about it, and hopefully proactive about getting someof his "freelanced" designs approved first..
