Selling: if not Ebay, then who?? Alternatives to Ebay, thanks! :)
Hi, I've been selling on Ebay, but may not want to anymore. Who would you say is a good alternative to selling on Ebay?
I have heard of etsy.com, and kijiji.com, but do not know much about them. For folks selling places other than ebay, would you mind elaborating on them? Would you list:

Hiya Manny and babyagoogoo,
Rodney has a really great thread open on that topic. Here is the link to it if you want to join the ongoing discussion happening over there about the new "no negatives" policy. There are some really great comments, and in one post, a member has posted a link to a very helpful tool to use that can help evaluate other members feedback.
This thread was prompted by that thread. I am hoping to keep this thread topic about alternatives to Ebay that folks are using, partly because of the new developments over at Ebay, thanks so much. Best regards, Kelly

I have attempted to sell on Etsy (shirts) but no luck. I have made 2 sales for blank keychains.
I have put a few things on ecrater and got 1 sale.
I've also tried "Blujay" but no sales. Not sure shirts do well on actions sites as well as other items (tv, electronics, etc.). But on the other hand i don't list things there a lot so the my listings eventually get lost behind all the new ones being posted.
I'm considering adding some things to cafepress just to see how it works as on ebay i make just enough to pay their fee each month. So i too am looking for other avenues. I print my own shirts but figure i could try cafepress too since they have a large following
All said i haven't found any place i like so far or find beneficial for selling shirts.

I listed our restaurant equipment on Craigslist. I got a lot of responses, but because were in Elko & there is no local for it, everyone was either in Salt Lake City or Reno.
I also found another site much like craigslist. It's called livedeal.com. They do have local for Elko, and after the local listings, it goes national.....

1) - now, since ebays has totally screwed the sellers, -- my sales are down by about 25%
2) - ecrater
Pro list --- is easy and fast to list an item --
--- they have added another feature for duplicating a listings
--- instant search engine listing (google) & through ecrater
--- it looks like a professional store front (as long as you have all
your I's dotted and T's crossed)
--- you have a sub-domain name (free)
--- NO listing fee's
--- NO final value fee's
--- google check out (con list for some)
--- Paypal check out (con list for some)
--- the site is growing by leaps with ebay refugee's
--- you can have as many store as you wish (register with different email addy's)
Con List --- 1st and formost (JMO) --
DO NOT MENTION (and I repeat) DO NOT MENTION
anywhere within your ecrater store that you will dropship . .
-- because will looooooose out big time with the search engine . .
ecrater will flag your store as an affiliate type stores
--- if your a chat room chatter . . . PLEASE lurk for about a month before making any
comments -- the moderator are NOT nice peeps (JMO)
--- each catagory has a moderater
--- the community board has several moderator
--- if your store is suspended for a site violation --- they DO NOT email you to inform you of
any violations - you will have to guess and contact them *ugh*~
--- if you list an item in the wrong catagory -- even by mistake --- they delete the listing
and they DO NOT email you to inform you of the Miscategorized item
3) -- etsy is ok -- the site is for craft items / designers/ artists / etc . . .
--- 20 cents listing fee for ---each--- item... and can have it listed for 4 months for that same
20 cents (example -- list 20 t-shirts with the same design -- 20 cents x's 20 shirts = $4.00)
I can't remember if I was charged a final value fee -- it's been so long since I've sold
something there
HOWEVER -- the for few cents that it cost over a 4 month period . . I would list 40 or 50
items there, just to get in the search engines *grinning*~
--- I really don't know that much about it yet to give you a real good opinion
other than . . I had to explain to etcy peeps, HOW, my items were made . I had to give them the whole run down . . . I think it was because someone that is from ecrater also, said I was an affiliate type store . . *ha ha foxed their butts*~ . . LOL*~
4) .. Buyitsellit.com
TOTALLY to much trouble to set up a store . . but once set up it does look nice .....
(hope it's ok to list this link)
here's one that I am setting up for the hubby charliescandles.mybisi.com
ok . . that's my 2cents worth . . *taking a deep breath* -- there is one more place I list --- but I can't list a referral link here . . *sigh*~

Reason: delinked URL
Re: Selling: if not Ebay, then who?? Alternatives to Ebay, thanks! :)
Many sellers are upset about the goings on at Ebay but they have come to the realization that there Is no other site out there that can compete with Ebay's exposure. Sales may be down a bit but the sales that most of them are doing cannot be duplicated on any other of these new auction sites.

I suppose this is the reason why it's hard to figure out where else you want to go if you want to ditch Ebay.
But this may change in the future. Once enough folks leave Ebay, "someone else" will be growing. I am looking for "who is the most likely site" that will be catching Ebays disgruntled members.
So far, it seems like Ecrater is possibly most likely to benefit. I want to go where the tide will roll in.

B-Boy --- I put a flyer in my shipments -- letting the buyer know that I am moving and give them URL for the new store front listing -- and include a discount or Free shipping on their next purchase (include an expiration date)
no big deal -- it's moving out of a house to a new home -- it takes time to
get to know your new neighbors . . .
with any business -- you have drive buyers to your new location

I tried Amazon auctions, Yahoo auctions, Etsy and am still sticking with Ebay and my own store site.
I didn't sell one thing on Etsy, and about two on the other sites, it was pathetic, compared to eBay. Just hard to beat it...
