I didn't sell one thing on Etsy, and about two on the other sites, it was pathetic, compared to eBay. Just hard to beat it...
This Is exactly what I am hearing from other Ebay sellers. It Is going to take a while before one of those other sites are going to compete with Ebay. I think trying to get customers to your own website would be best In the long run.

Yes, I have most of my sales from my own (non eBay) shoppe online, but eBay does generate sales and I always send those people to my store, as well

Hi!
Doing what, the webstore? I have a website/store hosted with Homestead, where I sell my items.
As well as the eBay store.
Let me know if I can help you

Oh! Well, I pay to advertise on Google (Google AdWords) which cost about $15 a month, and when people either write me questions or win my auctions on ebay, I have a sig of "please visit my shoppe for many more Stevie Nicks style items" and the URL.

UPDATE ON EBAY: Ebay have now issued a statement, saying that neutral feedback will no longer be counted to a sellers feedback rating.
Think EBay is perhaps starting to realise that with sellers leaving their site in vast numbers, it will eventually start to have a major impact on their business.
They are planning other changes to the feedback system that will be annouced soon. Let's hope they also look in greater detail, as to why so many sellers are vacating their site.
There are many alternatives to EBay, both online and offline.

I think it's the amount of competition and all the fees that make ebay hard work, i gave up because it was too much effort for little gain. I have put 0.99p auctions on just to direct people to my own site in the past,in that way it's cheap advertising.

Someone said something about Craigslist, Ubid, and LiveDeal.
The last one first, I thought you had to pay for LiveDeal.
Ubid, I believe came out before Ebay, glad to hear it's still around.
I've sold on Craigslist myself. Many of the sites are free, and do okay with Jobs, Community sections, and small business sales ad's. Does anyone else find Craigslist helpful?
I don't have a large success with screen printing and embroidery with craigslist, but bought and sold many other things like equipment.
How about Craft Shows? Anyone having any luck with them?

Craigslist has done really well for me. That being said did anyone see the special on CNN I believe on a special called the Ebay effect?
Anyway the interviewed a lady who was not happy with the way ebay was raising their listing fees, and other fees that she sells now on a site called ioffer.com I havent tried it but may be worth looking at.
What has really worked for me is I try to capture as many email addresses(with permission of course) from people that purchased my designs. Easier to sell to those who have bought from you.
I was sad that yahoo did away with the auctions.
Anyway if anyone knows of other alternatives please post

I have know many people selling many different kinds of things that do exactly this. They know items they sell on ebay are at cost or losing money, but it get someone to see their stuff and they sell other items at regualr prices away from ebay. Almost like and "introductory offer" for finding them on ebay.
Ebay is probably the best form of cheap advertising.

Sometimes selling on the Internet is tough. In advertising, they say once sale or response per 1,000 people is good. I wonder how many people really look at our ad's and/or auction items?
This is a discussion about Selling: if not Ebay, then who?? Alternatives to Ebay, thanks! :) that was posted in the General T-Shirt Selling Discussion section of the forums.
