Default Contract agreement with Designer ?

Question guys

I am entering a contract agreement with a designer in Decatur, GA , and I am in Califorina. One of the points on the contract he gave me to sign it reads

16. Arbitration. All disputes arising under this Agreement shall be submitted to binding arbitration before
___City of Decatur_______ in the following location _Georgia___ and settled in accordance with the rules of the American Arbitration Association. Judgment upon the arbitration award may be entered in any court having jurisdiction thereof. Disputes in which the amount at issue is less than $___500____ shall not besubject to this arbitration provision.

Does this mean that if I have to take him to small claim , that would have to file in Decatur Georgia, not oakland CA. ?

I believe so. Actually I believe any small claims will be files in the place of transaction. Even though you are on the net you are paying him in Georgia.

Always have a laywer preferably a businedd lawyer look at any documents that come across your table. Best be safe than to loose out in the long run.

Yep.. if you sign it.. Why so far away.. This California.. we have people that can do that.. Where do you live..I am in California. By the way folks here is a suggestion.. if you have a local collage that has an art department make contact with the instructor. I bet you could get one of these kid geniuses to help you at a fraction of the cost. Lou

well , ideally i would like to deal with some one out here in the bay area , I have not found styles that i can say i really dig , but my search has been limited to online , and people i come across in magazines and design books.

yah i would like to see if i can go to the big Art college in San Fran and see what raw talent i can find

if you are a well established designer ... $500 for a logo is a deal ... they charge from 500-1000.

The some of the best designers in the urban market , as i mentioned before are in Europe ,,, but i dont know if those guys work for cheaper or not
