Default Should I make the artist sign a contract?

I'm outsourcing all of my artwork, mostly through freelance websites. When the work is complete should I make the artist sign a contract allowing me to use the image? I would hate to be sued years later for something that was drawn for me! If this is the best way to do it, does anyone know of a contract I can just copy? Would rather avoid hiring a lawyer if I can.

Thanks!

The contract should be signed before the work starts.

I've I had few projects done through a freelance website. I ones that I deal with usually have in their contracts that all work will be giving to you and they will own no ownership of it once funds are 100% paid to them.
If thats not in their contract make them put it in there because some do wantt part ownership but not alot....hope that helps.
