Question Character designer needs help

I have been discussing with people the possibility of selling a character and or going in on some character motivated selling options.
I am clueless. Do I submit designs to people and if so who?
The option of just out rite giving a character to someone breaks my heart.
I am one of those people.

Any info at all would really be appreciated.

Try and look for people who are willing to pay top dollar for your designs. Someone who respects your work will respect you (in most cases!)

Why not try to put the designs on the shirts yourself of paying someone to do it for you.

With a little legwork, you might have get a good response and keep all of the pie.

That sounds like a good idea. getting your own production going and keeping most of the profit... I like it a lot!

I popped in on your site.

You have a pretty neat artistic style. But why are your cartoons so sad? Are you sad?

Especially the bug on the top right looks very sad. Maybe it's the eyes... you know... the way you draw them.

Someone once told me that an artist's true emotions are xpressed in their art.

What do you say?

Anyway... Cools site...

I popped into your site too, and then your MS page. Your drawings are great! I love the "Fearleader" character in particular.

If you don't want to produce your own shirts, the standard approach would be to license your original character drawings. As an artist, you probably will want to have some control over how your artwork is used.

There are licensing forms online, or in my case I have the book "Business and Legal Forms for Fine Artists," by Tad Crawford. There are options to consider related to how your artwork is used, royalty payments, and so on. You might search for other threads related to licensing in this forum as well.

As for whom to license to, it depends on who your work will appeal to. Are there any t-shirt brands that you admire, and make and sell shirts with similar designs?

Cheers, Mark.
