The text will be approximately 2 inches in height, white on black t-shirts and black on grey t-shirts for a company that I will be starting and would like to purchase my own equipment.

I would like the print to be the darkest color possible. I am a newbie and what I am reading sublimation may not be the method when you are trying to get a dark print on the t-shirts. Does anyone have any suggestions what would be the best type of printing, thanks.

Standard screen printing with either plastisol or waterbased ink would give you white on black or black on gray.
It may make way more sense to hire a screen printer to do your shirts than to make the monetary and time investment to learn how to do it yourself.
