I recently purchased a few domain names from Godaddy but i don't plan on using them any time soon...I probably won't be ready to use them until late 2009...
My question is should i just let them park for free? Or should i use the starter website option(knowing it won't be anytime soon)?
Hi Wombat, If you commercialize the domain names and the people using them get a bad name, where does that leave you? Unless you got a GoDaddy discount coupon or know the special codes you would be better off buying and parking at 1&1.com

If you are intending on using in the future, do as Rodney said, put a splash page or placeholder to indicate that the site will be available in the future.

That may not be the best option for an ecommerce site. Plus, if the domain has no traffic, then adding advertising to the site won't help anything.
