Default Gildan...

People have been telling me not to get Gildan t-shirts because they are known to be using slave labour. How do you people feel about this? Do companies like American Apparel use slave labour? Do customers care/ever send e-mails disappointed with the t-shirt? Do you think using a brand such as Gildan looks bad on a business?

99 questions lol ps i spell it labour cause I'm Canadian

i just switched from gildan to royal apparel...

the gildans are cheap/etc....

but for myself trying to build up a brand, i had to make a jump to "sweatshop free" gear...... i think that people should make a decent wage to live plus some.......

also it seems like you are from toronto?..t-dot.... i have people out that way

Gildan is cheap and easy to print on., but that isnt everything. Try King Fashions. They are basically the Canadian equivalent of AA

Is there evidence that Gildan is guilty of abusive labor practices or just rumor?

Gildan inexpensive but I wouldn't say that is is cheap. I like the cut of the shirts, along with the heavyweight quality. They have a huge variety to choose from, and most of my customers want just a regulay tee, instead of a fashion tee. You have to know your audience. That should be part of that knowing good design thread.
I don't really care about working conditions. If I work in a sweatshop printing shirts, I don't see why other people can't.

Gildans are cheap and nice .... alot of people like AA because it's soft but there is alot of word that AA is a very fitted tea. Not that everyone eats cheeseburgers everyday but many do not like the glove it displays.

My research shows both brands are questionable, but alas, I refuxe to buy from a sexist pig, being that I am female. Both seem to provide hostile anti union work environments.

And lookee here, I got a hit for "Gildan sweatshop"

I really like Continental, what is the word on their labor ethics? Ah ha I found an article comparing AA to Continental on this very topic:

Enjoy and please share any further information
