 Copyright Question: how to get permission to use quotes from movies?
I hope this question is posted in the right area.
I'm wondering about copyright. Specifically, I'm interested in knowing whether anyone has attempted to print t-shirts with quotes from movies or other copyrighted material and how those rights can be purchased.
If I wanted to use a quote from a movie on a t-shirt, for instance, who would I need to contact to obtain the rights for reproduction?
If it's only a single sentence from a script, would it still require a copyright?
What can I expect to pay for such rights? Might it include a portion of sales, or would it be an upfront fee?
