The popular design programs are Coreldraw, Adobe Illustrator & Photoshop if that's what you're asking.

Corel is my favorite but we use Illustrator and photoshop also. These programs are kind of expensive though. I have a friend that uses gimp and likes it.

Gimp is pretty good, but it was kind of hard for me to learn at first. We use Photoshop and Illustrator in my shop - I prefer to do as much as possible in Illustrator since scaling doesn't affect quality. You can find copies of both in older versions on ebay pretty reasonably.

I use inkscape for designs. Its free and relatively easy to use. Alot of the functions are very intuitive. You can make a really good design using this program on its own.

I've also downloaded GIMP. I don't use it very often. I've also noticed it seems to have a steep learning curve. But then again, I haven't really spent much time trying to learn to use it.
