Hi, I am brand new to this forum and I figured I would post because the people here have a wealth of information.
I am currently in the process of setting up my apparel business. I have a lot of designs and ideas that I have sketched out on paper, but my main issue has been settling on a logo and a company name for my business. I feel I should decide on my name before I pick a logo, but so far I have not been truly satisfied with anything I have come up with. I have had a lot of people tell me that I should use my actual name to some extent in my company's name, but I am not sure if that is a very marketable idea.
How have some of you decided on your company names and logo? Does your name directly relate to your logo? Any help or advice would be appreciated.
ok this is kind of silly but i literally flipped through a book and put my finger down on a word. I did this several times until I found two words that i liked!
I was looking for ideas to print on some tees when the name just popped up in my mind, that night I checked if the domain name was available and it was.
Good luck, I guess.
I think your bsiness name is a choice and doesn't to relate to your logo or vice versa. IMHO ....... JB

I went with the classic...use initials of family. Steve Lissette Andrew Madison and added ink at the end instead of inc. Its catchy and people love it because it shows we are to the point.
i haven't established a name for my business either. i just print a small lightening bolt under the air pit of all my designs.
Choosing your business name and logo is one of the most exciting things in my opinion. Before that your just the person making t shirts . I did not want to focus my business logo or name totally on one product as I might upgrade the designs I offer down the road and my name or logo might not have anything to do with the new designs. I look at the name more as a form of expression. Have fun with it, I did

I have done the same :-) and I was lucky because the domain name was not already taken.
You can have a great name, but don't forget the internet aspect...
We were only doing mugs originally, so we went for alliteration and Madcap Mugs was the best we could find with an available domain. As we now do more products we've become Madcap Designs.
