Government entities...copyright infringement? Working on launching a website in June-July which is geared towards police, fire, ems. We will be selling custom screenprinted and embroidered t's, hats, etc.
We will personalize items with department name, officer/medic name, badge number, etc. We were thinking of going more with individual generic badges for our local police, sheriff, fire departments vs. putting the state seal, department name, etc. in the badge itself although it can be done.
My question is....... is using a governmental agency's name, badge, patch, etc. any kind of a copyright infringement?
I understand if we're approached by a department to make a product there are no issues but the site will be set up for example with blank hats that an individual can choose color, size, type of badge (police, sheriff, fire, ems), name of department, officer name and such.
Some of the designs we've created have an image of the actual badge/patch. I appreciate any input. Thx in advance. |
