I don't mean, would you be embarassed to wear what you sell. What I mean is, do you prefer selling what you are 100% head over heals in love with and would have a closet full or:
would you / Do you:
1) Sell baby clothes (even though you have no baby.
2) Sell dog shirts (no dog(s))
3) Sell sweat shirts (though you don't live in the bahamas)
4) Sell "club kids" clothes (though you don't go clubbing)
and so on.
Maybe a better questions is: How and why did you decide to sell what you sell?
It sounded like a neat/funny/original idea, so I ran with it.
Being directly involved/invested helps. It can give you inspiration to create more along the same line.
But if you have an idea for the best soccer mom or club kid t-shirt design, there's nothing to say you shouldn't try selling the design.
If you don't have an outlet to sell the design, it may make it more of a challenge to market it, but if you can attract a good audience for the design, why not?
I'm the same - I'm conscious that if people ask me about it, it's a good promotional opportunity. My kids wear them too. Of course, we generally make sure we don't all go out wearing the same shirts, otherwise it would look a bit weird!
I will wear whatever expresses how I feel right now, whatever makes me feel something at the time and will pay whatever it costs to express these emotions, I would say that I am an ideal customer to hook,
Well, yes, I will wear what I sell, without hesitation.
If you need to pause to think about it, then chances are that you're not confident about your designs and you won't be going very far down the road.
I always make it a point to ask myself before finalizing the design: will I dare to wear the design and walk down the streets even if there's lots of hot chicks all looking at me?
If I answer Yes to myself, then yeah, I'll go ahead to launch the design.
If not, I tear it down and flush it down the toilet.

Its best to know your market when going into business. If you wouldn't wear your shirts you should at least be very knowledgable of the lifestyles of people who would wear your stuff. It would be easier to market to your audience.
The stuff I sell is a little different then most here basically because its so controversial. My company sells opinionated tshirts but the company itself tries not take take a side. I have pro-life/pro-choice shirts. Democrat/Republican shirts. All sort of shirts that swing from both side of the fence. So although I wouldn't wear some of them, I do see their value to someone who believes in what the shirt is saying. Thats my market so I try and understand it.
But I wont lie, I first created the company to wear my thoughts on key issues in public. Then it became a little bigger then that and I decided to give everyone the ability to do so. No matter the opinion, to be able to HAVE one and sport it.
