How can you tell if a business name is taken?

Post How can you tell if a business name is taken?

How can i find out if a business name is already taking... Also if you get a dba and use that business name on your shirts.. Can you get sued if its not trade marked.. I rly have no clue what im talking about but if anyone can help.. It would be well appreciated

You can get sued for just about anything But you don't *have* to trademark your DBA. It's not a requirement for doing business.

say i made my business.. used my business name on my T shirts...and then some one trademarked the name after my business started.. can they sue? and once again i rly dont kno what im talking about lol

I have dealt with this before. They can only sue you if you keep using the name. Also, check first if they trademarked the name in every way. If you ad a hyphen than you might be ok. the best thing to do is trademark your name. in the long run it doesn't cost much.

Yes, they can sue. Can they win? That's for the courts to decide. But as I said, people can sue for just about anything.
