Default Will this cutter/plotter work for my needs Roland DGA SX-12 of cutting poly twill

Hi first of all I am very new to this process and fully appreciate any help so please be kind. Heres what I need to do. I need to cut jersey numbers and names out of poly-twill. I need to use different font styles then offered at stahls or I would just buy them from them. I have these fonts saved on my computer and installed in adobe photoshop cs3.

Will this Roland DGA SX-12 cutter/plotter work for my needs?
How do I go about this?
Can you take me through the process step by step like do i have to cut the twill to fit the machine?
If that cutter will not work which one will cheapest one possible because I am not looking to do that many only about 100 jerseys a year.

Thanks for the help in advance
Bob

Hi Bob, Welcome to the forum! You would be better off looking at the Graphtec CE5000-40 cr pro the one you are looking at will maybe cut twill and is in the hobby class of machines, for a few bucks more the graphtec is a proffesional level machine and has the optical ARM system to cut inkjet transfers.

Unfortunately the Stika is not meant to cut twill. The thickest you're supposed to cut on it is .3mm (.012"), and twill, especially with a backer, is much thicker than this.

I don't know if it had enough downforce or power to cut twill, either. I can't seem to find that info, but I'm guessing with it's slow cutting speeds that it might get bogged down with twill.

The Graphtec WILL cut it, and from what I've been told, it won't void your warranty to cut it, even tho it's not specifically mentioned in what it can cut. But you might want to check with Graphtec about that for sure. Graphtec America: Cutting Plotters, Vinyl Cutters, InkJet Printers, Wide Format Image Scanners, Data Loggers, Acquisition platforms, Electronic Testing Instruments, Craft Robo

Good luck!
