Welcome Antonio,

You will find this website to be a great source for information and support. There are many talented people here with a wide breadth of knowledge. Let's start with whether you want to print your own shirts or whether you want to stick to the design side of operations. If you decide to purchase equipment and set up shop you will need to meet with vendors and determine the type of printing services you will offer and the equipment that will perform best for you. Determine the market price for your services, find a suitable location of operation (not all communities will allow you to work out of your home) secure insurance and register with the federal and local governing bodies. Yep, it doesn't happen overnight.

On the other hand, you can outsource almost all of the labor and materials. Some printers will sell you the blank shirts; some will print on your merchandise. There are companies that create custom labels and with the right quantities, companies that will create custom products for you to your specifications. You can even investigate using one of the print on demand services to launch your designs until you’re ready to set up your own shop.

Get an idea of which approach best suits your personality. The nuts and bolts of the administrative side can crush an artist just as the need to create unique designs can trip up the best of administrators. It's very easy to think you can do it all and make a quick buck, but the reality is it's a very competitive business, and let me emphasis business.

Fifteen hundred dollars can go quickly, but with the right decisions, it can be well spent.

Here’s to your success.

This is a small, but high quality plotter under $1,000
Graphtec America: Cutting Plotters, Vinyl Cutters, InkJet Printers, Wide Format Image Scanners, Data Loggers, Acquisition platforms, Electronic Testing Instruments, Craft Robo
These cost even less...
Graphtec Vinyl Sign Cutter Craft ROBO Custom Apparel Scrapbooking Hobby Crafts
Roland Stika Series - 8.5, 9.8 and 13.3 inch Vinyl Sign Cutters
SV-15/SV-12/SV-8
Roland Vinyl Cutter

You can get a half decent heat press
Heat Presses - Mighty Heat Press

and still have money left over for materials...
Heat Transfer Vinyl - Cad-Cut Material
