Default what is the right inventory size for a new beginner

I'm new to this business, and trying to get it right the first time. Therefore your honest advise will be appreciated.

I have about 20 different collections all together for men, women and youth in different sizes. My screen print is being made for me locally.
I'm wondering what will be the perfect inventory size for a new beginner like myself.

Thanks.

Zero until you have a market. You should have samples and a means to market your product via a store, website, events or wholesale. I wouldnt go out and print 20 designs by screen printing unless I could start moving inventory the day it arrives. Just my 2 cents.

I agree with David. Espically starting out, you really don't want supplies sitting around and not being sold, uless you have money to burn.

If you are having the screen printing done for you and you have to buy so many to get your price, maybe, but then you may need to sell in bulk as well.

We do manily vinyl shirts and stock the colors for our local school in Adult M - XL, but everything else we order. Our supplier gets us the garments the next day typically, so we tell everyone 24 - 48 hour turnwround and have no complaints.

If it were me I would have the designs done with plastisol transfers and then when I get sale I just pop in in the press and press. I order stock as I need it. with a sceen printer you have to have the shirts printed so you have to deal with sizes and colors and designs. My way I only have to have transfers made.
