Re: Need Help to divide 200 shirts in color and sizes
Also, if you're getting 200 shirts divided into 5 colors, you will have 40 of each color.
As far as sizes go, I went with a 3,4,4,2 ratio. This means 3 parts Small, 4 parts Medium, 4 parts large and 2 parts X-Large. To work out how many t-shirts this equals for each size, just add up the numbers in your ratio (3+4+4+2=13) then divide the number of t-shirts by the result (40/13=3.07), ignore the percentage for now (you can't exactly order 0.07 of a t-shirt).
Now multiply the answer by the numbers of the ratio (3x3=9 Small, 3x4=12 Medium, 3x4=12 Large and 3x2=6 X-Large). Now if you add this up, it will often be just below your original total t-shirt count (in this case it equals 39 t-shirts total, not 40) and thats because your ratio will often divide unevenly into your t-shirt quantity (remember the .07) so you can then just add the extra t-shirt onto one of the more popular sizes, I'd recommend medium making your final count look something like this;
Small: 9
Medium: 13
Large: 12
X-Large: 6
Wow, that's a really long winded way of describing a very simple formula, I hope it makes sense. The great thing about working it out this way is that once you work out the sizes that are selling the most for you and put this into a ratio, you can apply it to any quantity of garments, so even when you start ordering more, the ratio remains the same.
Re: Need Help to divide 200 shirts in color and sizes
Being a printer, most everyone who orders shirts to sell orders XXL as well. Not sure how they sell/your target market but it's something to consider. Also, if you're going with fitted shirts, I would say be sure to go with some XXL because not everyone is into that feel/style.

That link brings you directly to a discussion on 1,2,2,1 ratio ordering as opposed to 1,1,3,3 ratio and why folks are ordering in these quantities, so I hope it helps some. GL.
