Well im starting a clothing line, well im halfway there and still going till im ready to start selling in march or april... I live in Dallas which is really good cause there is alot of oppurtunity here. well i thought i was going to live here atleast till my clothing line opened and i got a little exposer here in dallas.....well i just found out that i'm moving in 2 weeks to a smaller city...well it's about 30,000 population and there's like two city close by that have a good 100,000 poplulation each..i'm going to say with all the other little cities around too a total of 300,000 plus population, nothing compared to Dallas...well can anyone give me advice to what i can do to market my company and make good money living in a smaller town. what can i do "marketing wise" to help me grow in such a smaller city..........PLEASE HELP....THANK YOU

With a smaller population, you might want to run some ads in the local papers. And depending on what type of business you're going for, you can try some type of grassroots advertising by having a bunch of stickers printed. You can hand them out or put stacks in local shops where you think your demographic might be located.

The thing about a clothing line is you aren't limited to your immediate area.

If you want your line in retail stores, you can target stores everywhere.

Your location really shouldn't matter *that* much. You can have a successful clothing line anywhere.

Maybe I should ask: what exact challenges do you think you'll face in the smaller city as opposed to living in the bigger city?

I think another important factor is are you printing yourself or outsourcing your printing. Are you offering print services or just selling shirts.

If you are offering print services than I would think you would need to target your area you are living in and the surrounding areas, but If you are just selling products you can do that from almost anywhere thanks to the internet
Also driving to surrounding areas and marketing your product to retail stores is an option.

You might actually be at an advantage in a smaller town, as you will almost definitely have less competition than you would in a big city.

Are you thinking about opening a clothing store, or will you be offering a printing service?

If your web-designer is a little pricey and you want to work within a specific budget, you might want to post your project on a site like eLance.com and see what feedback you get.

You'll be fine! You may even find that the need is greater in a small town. I'm in a town of about 10,000 and I just opened...there are 4 similar businesses in the same town and we're all staying busy. You'll find your niche once you get there! Good luck!
