And I was wondering does it really cost that much to trademark your company name and logo. It says like $400+ for a trademark and does that cover my company name and logo or do i have to get 2 different trademarks for my name and logo. If anyone knows of a cheaper/ better way to trademark please let me know.
Depends on which country you are in. USA will trademark name and a logo together if that is how it is to appear on your merchandise. You should also do a search of you name and logo to make sure it has not already been trademarked by someone else. This is very wise thing to do. You can do this at the US trademark site which you can google to get exact address. There is all the info you will need (including costs) and access to search your name to see if it is available and not taken. Good luck.

it is basicly protection for your business. think about it, it makes sense that it would be expensive. government controls it, and everyone needs it=they charge whatever they want.

Thank you !
You can file the trademark yourself by going directly to the trademark website. There is still an application fee of about $400. If your trademark application isn't accepted, you don't get your money back.
Going through a site like legalzoom will give you a better chance of your application being accepted. If you decide to use their service, you just pay a fee on top of what the actual application costs. This is to cover their time and effort making sure everything is done correctly.
It's the same old decision of "do it yourself" or "outsource it". Sometimes it's worth it to pay someone else who is an expert to do it for you, sometimes it's worth your time research and invest in doing it yourself. It's just a choice each person has to make
