It was printed before it was sewn. Given that it's a sport jersey, most likely with dye sublimation.

so they dye sublimation then they sew them. would it make a differance if they only did custom maybe 5-10 jerseys at a time.

It would make a huge difference I think..if you are just going to do 5-10 pieces. I doubt you will be able to get this done for a price you can live with.
I don't think you could do that yourself because you will need a large commercial printer that can do bulk material and then make the garment

If, as I suspect, they use dye sublimation it makes no difference to the printing. But it will make a difference to the garment construction. Still, it's a high-priced garment, which means there's plenty of margin in it; if you could put together the resources (like finding a cheap but competent local pattern cutter and sewer, a large format heat press and printer, a good source on fabric) you could do it.

Once up and running it would all be easy; the hard part is getting all the ducks in a row.

If you have the money, no reason you can't make it happen. If you don't, you could always outsource it and chuck on some markup.

I met a guy at SGIA doing that, Vapor Apparel was his company, Ive seen it up around the forums here somewhere. Ill prolly do paintball jerseys later on, since I was on a team 4th place in the World Cup 2003 at Disney Wide World of Sports .

Much higher. Think about the size of the fabric pieces you'd be pressing.

I had a guy come in today asking if we can get blanks and put a design on the shirt for him.

good luck and if you do find some mind sharing?

edit- did they say shirts. just wondering cause lots of paintball teams use long sleeves shirts as jerseys too.
