Default Mistakes / Errors

Before I start I would like to thank all of you in this community. You are like the Godfather, or King Solomon.

Anyway, my supplier has made 1 mistake in my design that affects 4 different styles.

I asked him to put a national flag on 2 hoods and 2 t-shirts.

1 of the errors on the two hoods was my fault. I did agree a wrong colour.
The other three were his mistake because he did not follow my instructions and just picked the closest colour which happens to be red instead of orange.

The flag is for India. As we know the East can be sensitive on such issues so they may not buy it, buy it and return it, or burn me to the stake.

What should I do, and how can I do without losing my suppluer who has been brilliant?

How many would still buy a flag with a wrong colouring (we can't use artistic licence as an excuse here).

I'd talk it over with your supplier, Andrew. First, see if they will correct their mistakes with some reprints after you acknowledge the mistakes you had made on the order. After that, if the supplier refuses to reprint the misprinted goods, ask for store credit on the next order in the dollar amount of their mistakes. If that doesn't work, then I'd start researching for a new supplier. If a business isn't willing to talk things over and compromise, then your money is better in other places. But, all in all, when you're talking to the supplier, keep in mind that whoever you're working with is still a person, and as such, demands to be treated like royalty.

Good luck!

Hi Jeremy,

Thank you very much for the advice. I'll talk it over with him and see what arrangement we can come to.

Thanks

Andy

Jeremy's post is right on the mark.
It's good advice....follow-it.

Regarding your question about the consumer and your product with the wrong color:

I personally would not buy the item if the flag is not the right color.

The last thing you would want to do is offend any of your customers and the selling their flag using the wrong color would do just that. I would recommend against putting the items up for sale if the color is not correct. Assuming you are trying to appeal to your customer's sense of patriotism by putting the flag on your product...the wrong color could really hurt you in the long run.

GOOD LUCK.
