Who have you guys worked with before in regards to shipping? Have you been happy with their service? Have you encountered any problems with the shipper since you've worked with them (i.e. missing packages, accounts payable disputes, etc.)?
I'm asking because I'm about to start up a new webstore, and was curious in getting feedback from all of my comrades at T-ShirtForums.com.
Personally, at my old job, I frequently worked with FedEx and found them to be BEYOND expensive. After trying to dispute a few occurrences, I made the decision that I was definitely not going to work with them in the future. The customer service was mediocre, despite the fact that there were a million different phone trees and only one right way to contact a Customer Service rep. Anyways, enough of my rambling.
Please feel free to leave me with any and all input you guys have!
Re: Who do you ship with? (A Question for Webstores)
I don't think you can go wrong with a healthy mix of UPS and the USPS. Just depends on where you are shipping to, and how quickly it must be delivered.
Re: Who do you ship with? (A Question for Webstores)
Since I am just starting with t-shirts my experience comes from my embroidery business- I only use fed ex- In 4 years I have only had one problem and everything gets there in great shape.Shipping to Canada I use the US mail to help them avoid custom charges.
I do not use UPS because all my suppliers ship to me ups and the condition the boxes come in is awful
Yes fed ex cost more but I pass it on to the buyers
Re: Who do you ship with? (A Question for Webstores)
fedex has been the only shipper that hasn't lost something of mine. when ups lost a big package of mine they had horrible customer service and i think something fishy was going on. the package was worth about 900 bucks. i when i ship non shirt stuff i go with usps.
when i start shipping shirts i will probably go with fedex.
Re: Who do you ship with? (A Question for Webstores)
It's unfortunate, but they all have a truck or trailer go off a bridge into a river every now and again. Or a plane down, or a fire, etc. Sometimes things just happen.
One time I had UPS tell me they damaged a carton so badly there was no sense trying to return it, they just destroyed it and paid me what I asked. For all I know it went up in flames somewhere, or fell off a truck and got run over. No biggie, I got my money and replaced the shipment.
And I've had them just come out and say "We don't know." When you think of the overall results they all have, considering the volume of parcels and the time constraints, they do a wonderful job.
