Most of the time it's not necessarily the product, but the marketing. Eventually it will be somethng else. When I was young, a guy sold a ton of pet rocks. He laughed all the way to the bank. His designs aren't difficult or really all that great but he branded it, marketed it and uniquely packaged it. He made you feel you were somebody if you stood in line for a t-shirt served in a box. I personally would not wear a cupcake on a t-shirt but...you can't argue with the money he's made.
Does anyone remember pogs, oh my god my daughter spent so much on little circles of cardboard and plastic hehe, it is funny what can happen if you hit the market just right at the right time, I agree branding is everything when it comes to being successful or not.
That is the strangest thing about pogs - they've had several successful launches over the years. You'd think the concept would die, but it seems to be something companies can get off the ground semi-regularly.

has anyone actually bought a JOHNNY CUPCAKES shirt? i just got mine in the mail and he puts together a sweet little package... custom tissue paper, a rondom collector card (mine was from saved by the bell) a bitton and a mint... its a nice cool little bonus...
