Default Question about copyright infringement

Im planning on making t shirts that are related to some anime characters. knowing that these animes are owned by companies in the US, can i still print out like shadows of them, or lets say a symbol they used in the anime. would that still be considered copy infringement?

what about sports teams? what if i printed out silouhetes of the players, is that still considered copyright infringement?

lastly, what are u looking at being sued if u do this? what if youre not mass marketing it and just making a few a week to sell and pay the cell phone bill

can someone tell me more about this copyright infringement. ive read some of the threads on it already and am still confused. please help me on this thanks alot

well for one thing you are flirting with some serious issues...to say nothing of possible criminal charges for theft...having said that..if the images are recognizable as copyright images, you cannot legally do it..

To get real answers on this...go to an attorney!!!! I would not risk my future on advice that I receive from unknown persons with unknown talents...including me..

And as far what will happen...first you may get a cease and desist letter, but they don't have to they can sue straight off. What is at stake...I believe the US law allows for $10k to $20k per infringement and up to $30k if deliberate. Example the young single mother who last week chose to fight the record industry, was found guilty of infringement by trading or downloading 20....repeat 20..songs (they alleged over 1700 but only charged 20) and she was fined $220,000. Extreme...you bet but it happened.

there is certainly enough information on this forum for anyone with a question to consult an attorney. I know Rodney has suggested this several times.
