Hi,
You could buy graphics from places like clipart.com or iphoto. There area also places like greatdane graphics which have some pretty much completed designs or if you have an idea of what you want you could hire a graphic designer to create them for you. You dont really need to know how to draw as there are alot of resources for graphics you can purchase or have made for you. I do both, create some and use different cliparts mixed together. It just really depends on what you are able to do and what you want to do.
I cant draw to save my life... but i still come up with some good designs... what i do is draw all that i can on paper, scan it (or now, since my scanner is broke i take a picture with my phone and e-mail it...), and then trace what i got and add in everything else.
Just have to take your time
Thanks guys awesome suggestions. How much would a graphic designer run?
Not sure, but a lot more than doing it yourself would... honestly, you should learn to use either illustrator or coreldraw and do your best. keep your drawings simple (i only do rough outlines, really), and then fix them up on the computer.
I would recommend posting an ad on craigslist: san francisco bay area classifieds for jobs, apartments, personals, for sale, services, community, and events for a freelance artist. When you have a design in mind, see if you can find an artist to draw if for you. If your really lucky, the artist might also be a graphic artist and the he or she can recreate the drawing on Adobe Illustrator in an EPS (encapusulated post script) file. From there, you take the the drawing to a silkscreening company or order heat transfers. You will be suprised at the talent you can find on Craigslist.

You can download a free 15 day trial of CorelDraw X3, or a free trial of Illustrator. With all the training programs and tutorials out there (several from Forum members), Corel is very easy to learn - you may surprise yourself. Good luck!
Absolutely not.Have you seen some of the things printed on shirts today?
If you can draw a stick figure, can scan, your in!
Have a younger family members that brought home any drawings from class?
Here is a classic example of 2nd grade drawing making money today. These types of shirts ( drawings ) are all over today.Seems to be a style many like.
I just started in the biz myself with the same problems. i found smartdesigner
a plugin for coreldraw that i know make it simple to make great tee graphics
I don't think you have to be able to draw - but it does depend a bit on how complicated you want the drawings to be. Get help if you want something intricate, but definitely try drawing yourself if it isn't! I'm learning, but will never be an artist, so my t-shirts will always be as simple as possible. And it sells...
