I am wondering where the best place to look for what can and can not be printed on t shirts with or without permission. 3 very specific examples i am speaking of
1. using a person's name
2. using a person's face
3. using a company's logo
I know nothing about the first 2, but i have heard for the logo issue, as long as you are not trying to falsely affiliate yourself with that company or as part of that company then it is ok. Obviously that is a very limited explanation, which is why i am looking for more solid information. Any information and links will help. Thank you in advance. | | | | | |
First off, I should say that if you want legal answers, you need to talk to a lawyer. That's where to get official legal help.
Any opinions you get here won't be worth much if you get sued.
Generally speaking though, you can't print anything you don't own without permission.
Trying to print a celebrity name? If it's not yours, then not without permission.
Trying to print a Dell logo on a t-shirt? If you're not Dell, you can't do it legally without permission.
Trying to print Madonna's face on a t-shirt? If you're not Madonna, you can't do it legally without permission.
Trying to print a graphic you saw online on a t-shirt? If it's not your design, you can't legally print it without permission?
There are a few exceptions to that rule, but if you follow that general guideline, you'll be safer than sorrier
By "print it". I mean, put it on t-shirts and sell it.
