Default a simple alternative to quicken/quickbooks

Hey everyone,
my boss shot me an e-mail yesterday with a link to this really simple alternative to quicken or quickbooks and I thought I would share with everyone.

Its called "expensr" you can sign up for free at http://www.expensr.com

I signed up today and it's REALLY easy to learn. My business is still in the "infant" stage so it does everything that I need it to do and more. But it doesn't have all the cool extras like quicken or quickbooks. I've never done any kind of book keeping, and I had everything up and running in a matter of 10 min. I was really glad to have found this alternative, because i've heard that quickbooks has a pretty steep learning curve (not to mention its a little expensive).

It seemed to be geared more towards "personal finance" but I just formatted it to my business expenses and it worked fine. I just figured that if I found it useful, im sure someone else out there would too and the best part...its entirely free.

so, I hope someone out there can use this, good luck...

I use freshbooks for simple quicken type invoicing/billing. It's very easy to use and steamlined: FreshBooks - The Fastest Way to Track Time and Invoice Your Clients

If you are doing any graphic design/service work, you need freshbooks It helps you make sure you're getting paid for the work you do.

thanks rodney, that looks very useful especially being a graphic designer. But, I don't do enough freelance work to justify the monthly fee. I love all the features...especially that you can send instant snail mail invoices and even do online billing, that would be a great tool to have.

They have a free trial that lets you have up to 5 clients I think. That's how I started with it.

Then I started moving as much of my billing over to there as possible.

The service paid for itself when I realized that I was getting paid more often for the stuff I was supposed to be be already charging for. Like yearly hosting fees. It will automatically send an invoice every month or every year so you don't have to think about it
