Hey Lewis,
Thanks and I checked all of the links you provided. The intent of my question was to see how many shirts my initial run would need to be. For one design at 1,2,2,1 would not be cost effective since I will have a company do the screen printing. Also at 1,2,2,1 that would be little inventory. Sorry if I was not clear.
I was thinking of 10M, 20L, 5XL for Men (and) 6S, 9M, 5L for Women.
What do you think?!

James, 1,2,2,1 that you may have seen is just a suggested "ratio" of the amount of garments you should order. Not the actual quantities.
So expanded to 60 shirts, that would be 10s, 20m, 20L, 10XL.
The exact quantities you should buy will depend on your company's budget and marketing strategies.
For some companies starting out, they will need 100's of each size, because they have a big ad campaign behind the launch and they have actual projected numbers that dictate how many of each size they'll need.
For other companies, they may only need 5 or 6 of each size because they have a smaller launch planned.
Your business plan should dictate the actual quantities you order.
The links that Lewis pointed you to are to help you out with the size ratios once you have the total quantities figured out.
