Default Album Covers - Legal Or Not?

I know this may be posted somewhere else in the forum but I keep getting customers coming in my shop wanting to get old vintage album covers on their shirts. Just wanted to know what the deal was with this? Legal wise?

Any input?

Thanks for any...

I would say you can not do it leagally. I think it would be copy right infringement. ... JB

Guaranteed the images are owned by the record labels.

No can do, nephew. Just think about how the music industry is reacting to song copyrights and such. If there is one thing the music industry cares most about, it is their right to milk every penny out of the artists on their label.

I think you have received all the right answers....unless it is a cover from a company no longer in existence ....and even then the photo/cover could still be an asset for someone..For that I would spend a buck with an attorney

Status,
Is this for customer personal use for resale?
I think if it's for personnal use then it might be ok.
If it's for resale then you could run into problems especially if the copyright holder actively policeses their property.

Form onsies.... I do believe this is a typo...which I do all the time...I suspect Fluid mean 'for' and the letter 'm' just wanted to sneak in!

Why would it be unethically correct?

Its still stealing.... is why the ethical question comes up.

If only all the dudes on Ebay selling ripoff band shirts felt the same ethical values!

I'm sure everyone has their own reason for ethics, but one reason would be that the person doing the printing for a fee would be profiting from printing copyrighted material that they know their customer doesn't own.
