Hi
Ok, there is a thread asking if you wear your own tees. Most said yes, some said no. Now, when I started in this business I had the idea of making a shirt portfolio, I mean, keeping @ leat one of each shirt, so I can have it for future reference, to show it to customers or something else. The thing is that I never did that. I dont even have one of every shirt I made and I liked. There are some that were limited editions and they got sold so fast that we couldn even keep one for ourselves (including my partner).
Do you Keep a sample of every tee you make other than the one you actually use?

Yep, since I'm new a lot of people ask for samples. I say "yep, got some right here." Once they see your good work I think it helps to finalize the order a bit and put there minds at ease. I won't save a sample from every order since I've got a good handfull now but every time I do one a bit unique I'll make myself an extra.

I don't really keep anything I don't need. I usually just make them to order, and take pictures of every new one I make when I do. If somebody needs a sample, I can make one in a few minutes. But I'm a 100% online store, so If you have a physical store, keeping samples would definitely be a good idea.

I'm in much the same boat - originally I was going to keep one of each, then I was going to keep a printed copy on fabric, now I don't even necessarily do that (although most of the time I do a test print and stick it into a book).
If I were only doing print runs of 500+ I'd probably keep a shirt from each, but since I'll often end up printing only a few it's just not really worth it. Besides which, if I kept copies of everything I made (not just t-shirts) it would take up too much space.
At some point I'll start documenting better, but for now I'm barely keeping some kind of record.
Re: Do you keep one sample of every t-shirt you make?
I was really talking about designs you make for your own clothesline, not for customers, like stores or schools. That is what I originally meant, but I guess it is the same thing.
Re: Do you keep one sample of every t-shirt you make?
I just recently kicked off and have great plans for a store... hopefully it eventuates and we open next year in Autumn (Australian)... I'm keeping one of each design (one so far) and framing them... the type of store I plan to open I haven't seen or heard of anywhere so it will be interesting to see what type of response it gets from the public and press... be cool if I could develop it into a tourist attraction and icon like Harry's Cafe De Wheels is... Peace out!

Hell yeah... I keep and wear every tee. Free marketing when you wear them out and people see them. I always have people ask, where did yopu get that shirt?
Re: Do you keep one sample of every t-shirt you make?
I keep samples of some shirts - mainly if it's something I like a lot or can use to show off
We are using dye-sub so it's not a problem to re-print something if I need it (I do keep ALL the graphics files).
I always take pictures of the shirts we make, though.
