Default OT- Am I the only one having problem with california sales and use tax form

Hi, I started my ecommerce store in november 2006, so I have gotten my paperwork to fill out for my sales and use tax that is due at the end of the month(I actually got it about two months ago but everytime I look at it I put it back away haha), I am completely confused as how to fill it out since I make sales for my garments all over the US also the way it is written is totally confusing. am I the only one confused ? Can anyone explain it in simple terms what goes where on the form? I dont understand why they cant word the form in simple english so it is easier to understand. I called my tax guy but he isnt answering, I think he only works part time in the off season. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
have a great day
Bobbie

If you read the instructions that come with it, it breaks down each question in more detail and explains how to fill it out.

There is a spot to report ALL of your sales and there are spots to report which sales are in CA.

the form sux, we make copies of it before we fill it out because we usually have to do it 2 or 3 times to get it right. even if you use the one you fill out in pdf you will still have to do the calculations.

the top section is for gross sales and then subtract out foreign (non-ca) sales.

then allocate your net ca sales among all the sections. there is one for the state at 6%, all counties at 1%, special districts at whatever they are at. whatever city/counties you ship to, you are supposed to fill those in.

you may be eligible for the EZ form. call the boe and ask them for it. it is one page with one calculation of 7.75%

Thanks for the replies, I think I will call and see if I can get the ezfile form since I charged CA tax on my sales I think I can just do the ezfile as I dont really have anything I want to deduct, I did'nt make that much so I would just prefer to pay the taxes on what I sold and be done. Thanks so much for your help.

We found some of the peole that work there very helpful.. I dont remember where we got the phone number.. but had one lady in particular that walked us thur the form on our first go round with it.. and got it all figured out..

Right now im sitting here inputting the rest of my invoices into quickbooks so i can figure out how much i owe in sales tax for this last quarter.. (I hate it .. lol..) I know i collect the money to pay the taxes.. but it just drives me nutz to write the check.. to do it ....

Well I called them and they said because the way I am licensed, I have to do the long form. They are very helpful though as they will walk me through the form once I have all of the figures together to put in the form. I think once I do it, I wont have a problem in the future but boy they sure do make the form confusing
Have a great day
