We had an order for some work shirts. Our customer is kind of picky about what he gets so rather than me suggest something I just brought a catalog from SanMar to him and sat down with him to show the styles/colors available in the types of shirts he wanted. I also happened to know he wanted some jackets for another project so I showed him the jackets. Before we were done he had picked out about double the dollar volume of product that he had originally told me he wanted. All because I took a catalog with some pre-selected pages to him. On top of that he is now real excited about his second project and we will do a sample for him to take and show others.
So, for 30 minutes of personal time with a customer and a nice catalog I doubled volume on a single order and picked up a lead for another order. Not too shabby.

i'm working on my print catalog for my line now and have about 11 catalogs for now that i'll use to try to get my line in the stores.......we'll see..... but most people dont like to go online to check out items if its the first time viewing the product.....once you get that name out there, i would then think that people would be more confident to shop online

It's also important to note that Fred's offering a great tip on selling printing services (using the client's graphic) which may or may not translate to starting your own fashion line with your own designs
