Post Help with clothing questions im a newbie

Hey guys, hope you can help.

Does anyone have any contacts for any companys that do the discharge type water based printing, like affliction use, im sure its been asked amillion times. im looking at starting a line but are in the uk and have found it difficult to find any printers who use this technique that will print on most colour garmetns and print 'into' the material, or feel like it is part of the material like afflictions or ed hardys designs.. i came acros a printer who uses anew ink called permaset which is produced by an american company. i have found 1 or 2 who do the discharge in the states or india ithink. tsdesigns | printing t-shirts for good was one and ESP Excellent Screen Printers Ltd Home Page in new zealand.

does any1 know of any either in the uk, us, or anywhere?

so ineed to find printers who can print larger size prints, cossome designs i do are full a3 paper type size, specialing printing types like foil and some1 who can also print details into the collar and also some1 who can print larger prints that print overt he sleeve seems or the collar.

what are good high quality and good colour choice garments to get wholsale when starting out, esp for hooded sweats, high quality tees, long sleeve tees, thermals etc. i looked at the obvious american apparel and they have a uk distributor, who else would you guys suggest that are good to look at when starting out a clothing line.

also, has a few brands like affliction have distressed clothes, like their sleeves, hems, and the hoods or cuffs of sweats, how are they done, they say they are done by hand, so do they use sand paper on the garments or some special technique to rough the edges of the sleeves and collars up? and what stage of the process ios this done, is it a last thing after the shirt has been, washed and printed??

id also like to ask, all my designs are hand drawn with pencil which i then go over in black art fine liners, mainly just black and most are with shading or shaded lines, but can some 1 help me, how can i scan it in and change it correctly so that ican just email or send a design to a printer wen ifind 1. my designs are all on a3 size paper so im also looking at gettinan a3 scanner. also, if i draw a design in basic black and white and i had im my mind that it wud have certain parts coloured when it was on a tshirt or hoody etc, would i colour them in on the design b4 scanning into photoshop, or cud i givethe printer the design and tell him/her wat parts are what colours, if any? does it matter if i add colour to the drawing i create??

im looking at having garmentswashed also, does any1 knw of any good wash houses? i have luckily found a couple here in the uk, 1 is about an hour away from where i live, so im going to check them out, im guna take some affliction pics with me to give ihim an idea of the kinds of washes iwant. but does any1 knw, if iwhere to have garments printed, would iget them washed 1st (stone, enzyme, silicone etc etc) then take them to be printed?

lastly does any1 knw of any good companys that create good hard casted zipper pulls?? i was looking at having a simply design made and clip it to the zips on the hoodys,.

hope any one can help.

please reply or email me with any help

thanks guys

Since we have many printers on this forum, we tend to stay away from printer recommendation posts that might encourage self promotion.

You can try finding a printer by posting a request at TSPMB - The Screen Printers Message Board! or

Once you have 15 posts in the forum you can post a service request in our classifieds area here: http://www.t-shirtforums.com/tf-classifieds/

Check our wholesale t-shirts section of the forum. If you use the search there, you'll find all types of wholesale fashion t-shirt vendor selections. Search for terms like vintage or slim fit or even affliction.

Continental Clothing has offices in the UK and they have some similar shirts. You'll find many more brands to try by browsing the Wholesale T-Shirts section of the forum.

Continental sells some distressed shirts. You can also do it with a dremel tool. If you search the forums for vintage or distressed or grinded you'll find more tips and suggestions.

You can either scan it yourself and edit it in photoshop, coreldraw, illustrator, etc and send the edited file to the printer or you can send the hand drawn artwork to the printer for them to clean up (which will usually require paying art fees)

Search our Graphic Design section of the forum for information on hand drawn artwork or scanning.

As a general tip. You'll get more responses by splitting up your questions and posting them in the correct sections of the forum.

You'll also find that some questions you won't need to post because the answers have already been posted in the past forum discussions. To find those answers we have two very powerful search tools:

http://www.t-shirtforums.com/tags/
http://www.t-shirtforums.com/search.php

If you search and read through topics before posting a question, you'll save yourself a lot of time waiting for answers to be posted.
