Default modifying shirts?

since i have a seamstress now, i will be looking into tweeking some ideas here and there on some shirts...... now since i will be altering the shirt, do i need to apply for a RN# or anything that will keep me from selling..... i understand i will need insurance which is my next step but for the sake of altering then reselling, is there any legal issues involved...

thanks

Word is?... You have to change the origonal. At least 20%.. Without using a trademark.
I would go with a 25% change for sure. Just to be safe..

That info comes from a 40yr old guy. With over 20 years, in the industry. I don't assume anything!
But I'm not an expert... Good Luck!

I think the OP is talking about physically altering existing shirts, such as Urban Outfitter's Urban Renewal range, not about "how much plagiarism can I get away with".
