postage method to Australia
For all the fellow Aussie site members, or one of the pros who knows!!
What is the best and most economical method for postage to Australia?
(for items both small / light & larger / heavier)
eg. t-shirt (obviously) and beads / swarovski crystals & the like.
The recommendations from a few companies are quite varied.
Is it advisable to have an account of my own established with a postal provider?
or just trust the company to steer me in the right direction if they provide that service.
please help!

Re: postage method to Australia To Australia from where, Donna?
For Tshirts from the US, USPS in my experience. Price will vary, of course, according to the type of shipping: air is obviously faster and more expensive than sea.

Re: postage method to Australia Cost Threadless $9 to post 10 shirts to Oz. They charged $27 however.

Re: postage method to Australia thanks Nick
do you query the difference to the quote and the actual charge?
do you have any suggestions about having your own postal account?
just one more "do you" !
how about where to purchase the Duracotton (I think that's what it's called) printing paper in Australia?

Re: postage method to Australia You won't need your own postal account in the US to have items shipped from there using USPS. That only works with UPS and FEDEX type shippers.
USPS is generally the least expensive for international shipping.
You can get pricing on their website:

I would suggest contacting the manufacturer of the paper (autoart.ca) and asking them if they have any distributors in Australia. If not, you can purchase it from a US or Canadian distributor)

Re: postage method to Australia Best: USPS Global Priority
Cheapest: USPS Surface (will take 1-3 months, usually 2-3)
For small items with good margins you need in a hurry (the crystals perhaps, for example) global priority is good. For bulky, heavy items that can wait (blanks) you're probably better off with surface. That will tie up money in useless inventory for a long time though.
