Ken,

Thanks for the news story. I've been considering celebrity images on tees but wasn't sure about the legal issues involved. I have access to a great many movie stills but I gather from this article that at this point it's okay to use such images. Am I mistaken?

Artie

I took it to mean that NY and Wis. werre the only states that did NOT prohibit the use of the images. I would consult an attorney though before I used anything like that.

I would be Leary and definently contact a lawyer.

Corel Corp was sued for major bucks years back for using the likeness of an actress without her permission. A art contest winner rendered her likeness and the art was used on the cover of the box set.

But you're talking about an actress who wasn't dead. There the law is very clear. It's after a celebrity dies that's at issue here.

That's still an issue for a lawyer. Even after a celebrity dies, they can still have their likeness protected by their estate.

I wouldn't take any legal advice from an article or a forum, if you want concrete answers, you'll have to talk to an attorney
