It would not be a wise idea (legally) and secondly why would you want to use their logo on your shirts anyway? By the sounds of it you want to use this as the primary mark of your brand, but that defeats the whole purpose of having a unique logo since you would be styling it after another logo. Goodluck.
That's not what I want to do at all. I just want to use it as a design on 1 of my shirts. I have my own logo but thought it might look cool to use the outline of the Cadillac symbol.
Could you get away with using the Cadillac symbol on a shirt? Obviously I would change it to fit my style and brand.
Imade one out of gold foil for a certain motorcycle brand,I couldnt find one like so i made one .Ithink they will turn somewhat of a blind eye to ...as long as you dont profit, offend etc.
Good free adv. is always a bonus for anyone,My freind seen it and he wanted a few for some other friends. (to sell) I didnt and explained why.
I hope this wasnt a dumb ramble
Is it really worth risking your livelyhood and some big bucks if they catch ya..
It really is a serious business and the fines can be steep..
Gerry if it was a HD motorcycle graphic.. feel lucky they didnt catch ya.. .. The are very very protective of their logo.... Matter of fact I cannot even legally make a sign with that logo for a authorized dealer..

Wow Iguess Ididnt think of it at the time, I could understand how they Would be protective. It was actually a display type thing and I didnt realize small details wouldnt hold well.Ive airbrushed their logo on different things and never had heard that info.
thanks.
Do a search to the left for threads with "legal" and "trademark". They do not represent in any way legal advice, but there is some very general information.
All say, in real terms, a big no.

One thing that many people do not relalize is that many of the car makers and or motorcyle makers are so protective of their logos that the dealers cannot even use them in their logo.. an couple examples is Honda.. the local dealer can post Honda Signs but they cannot use the Honda logo in their Logo or even the Honda font..
Harley Davidson is very very stict about their logo even.. Heck You can get sued from Chevy if you put a car on a t-shirt that is one of their cars.. without their permission.. same with Volkswagon..
If you feel its not a big deal.. then contact the car maker and ask them.. if it can be used..

Exactly
One of my old clients received and cease and desist letter and had to revamp his entire brand. It was a VW mechanic shop who strictly sold vw parts and only worked on vw's. VW told them to loose the logo type or go to court
Amazing even when this company was doing nothing but supporting the V Dub community and reinforcing the VW logo in a good way.
They like to protect their identity no matter what
