I have a quick question on using things such as the Chevy bow Tie emblem. Is it legal to print and sell a T-Shirt with a car on it that has a Chevy Bow Tie or the Ford emblem?

Also I had some ideas on using MMORPG names. Like EverQuest or Dark age of Camelot. Is this illegal to use the game name on T-shirts and sell and market them as well?

You should really be talking to a lawyer about this (for legal advice).

Is no. Not without permission from Chevy or Ford.

To my understanding you have to get permission, of course to let whatever company in on the profit. I wanted to do some college prints and was in the same boat.

Its called licensing. A contract is required between the company who owns the trademark and yourself. Good luck with those big companies even returning your phone calls.

If you have deep pockets ....go for it! It's my understanding after experience with licensing of University of AZ t-shirts(whose logo is a wildcat and colors are red and blue)...if you produce a product that resembles their trademark.....like a design that references a cat and in red and blue....it represents trademark infringement. I know i can't afford a legal battle with a big entity....can you?

If you don't change it: simple case of (illegal) trademark infringement, no need to ask a lawyer.

If you do change it: complicated case of possible trademark infringement or dilution, might be actionable, might be able to weasel your way out of it as an act of free speech, might not.

Thanks all, there is so much information to take in on this site its amazing. I am really learning a lot of good tips and pointers, and no I cant take on a large company in court lol.
