Default Best shippign methods for online store!!

I am curious what you all have found the best results from

I am looking at doing a flat 7.95 shipping fee for shirts ordered on our site.

But I was also thinking how about increasing the price oft he shirt and throwing in FREE SHIPPING

so instead of a 20.00 shirt make it 24.99 with free shipping. Curious if peopel have been down this road and what from there expierences is the most effective marketing approach.

I have also seen others use calculators to determine price based on wieght, and size to the ZIPCODE.

But the ideal thing here is to make it simple and easy for people to make the purchase without the thoguth of being ripped

thanks

Hey... I use Priority mail by the US Post Office. They supply the bags, boxes, even the tape for free, all at a cost of $4.05. You can't beat the price and it gets there in two to three days anywhere in the US. The thing you have to be aware of that the shirt or shirts can not go over one pound, after one pound the price increases by the ounce. Hope this helps.

You'll find lots of good shipping tips here.

7.95 sounds like a lot to ship a t-shirt.

What would you consider dirt cheap? Every fedex quote I've had is way more expensive that USPS.

$2.50 to ship first class across the US isn't bad (that's from USPS).

Gotcha...I got confused because this thread is about an online store (selling t-shirts at retail...not big boxes)

For big boxes of shirts (anything over 12+ shirts), there are definitely better methods than USPS. For both pricing and package tracking

For one t-shirt, there aren't many that can compete with USPS's pricing (although they seem to increase every year).
