I was just wondering if there was a thread somewhere that combined a lot of must read posts/articles. I am new to this business, and want to read as much as I can. It would be easiest if there were a thread where a knowledgable person has selected great threads and articles... since I am currently so ignorant that I could not differentiate good information from bad in many cases.

Thanks

Hi Clockwise, I to am new to the forum, there is an awesome amount of information here. It would be helpful if you pin pointed the Topics you are looking for "Silk Screen & Heat Transfer etc." and I'm sure someone will lead you to it. I have found this forum to be so helpful, and I for one am greatful to have found it. Good Luck.

welcome to the forums Joshua. Write down all of your questions and then you can either do a search on the left hand side for past post that will address the issue or post the specific questions.

Thank you for the recommendation. I'm reading some of the reviews and it seems to target those starting a silk screen business. Is this right?

I guess I should have stated what kind of business I am getting into. I will be creating designer T's. I plan to do the design/sales myself... and outsource the rest. I guess I'm looking for a good way to organize my business. One stop shops, separate places for different services, do it all from home (a bit pricey i think), a combination of the above?

And then I guess I want to learn more about all of the different techniques out there (screen printing, hot foil, embroidery etc). Learn about different fabrics...

Hope that helps. I'll try to come up with some specific questions. Right now I'm just so green I'm not even sure what to ask lol.

It covers pretty much everything. Seriously, read it. It will answer most of the questions you haven't even thought of. A lot of the things you will read here will make sense after you do.

It's an easy read -- It's not expensive, it's easy reading and it has lots of pictures!

You can find a lot of great tips and articles posted under the articles tag here.

The book that Jose linked to will explain those terms. You can also search the forums for those terms and find more great information.

Also check out the book, "I Made That" which will go over the heat transfer section of the industry.

Thanks a lot guys. I've been spending all day reading. I must say... I signed up yesterday or the day before, not knowing a single thing. I still don't know much, but I have definitely learned a lot more.

I'll just keep working my way through these forums.

Sorry for bumping up an old thread, but I was in a similar situation with the threadstarter and have found this topic through the search function. Nonetheless, I'd like to thank all of the above individuals for their recommendations. I'd definitely be buying 'How to Print T-Shirts for Fun and Profit' !
