Default Credit Card Processing

Hi. I was wondering if anyone does credit card processing. I'm currently with Bank of America and we're getting ripped off. Does anyone have a less expensive merchant service providor? Thanks

I use paypal processing. Right now it does direct from our site, but we're going to integrate it into the site when we do a redesign.

They also have a virtual terminal that you can use to process cards when you get payment over the phone, fax, or email.

Why do you think you're getting ripped off?

i actually work full time as a web designer and we have a deal worked out with a local credit card processor "sterling buying group". they have great rates and i'm sure you don't have to be local to use their service.

don't quote me on this but, i believe their rates are as follows:

$150 setup fee
$20 a month
$0.10 per transaction

let me know if anyone wants their info...

That doesn't seem that low at all, unless there is no swipe fee (usually a percentage of the sale in addition to that 10-20 cent transaction fee).

If you shop around a bit, you should be able to find something with a $5-10 monthly statement fee, no annual fee, a 1.6-2.0% qualified swipe rate + 20 cent transaction fee, and ~$100 startup fee. We just looked at two companies that fit this description; we are just now looking at switching our offline processor, since we were getting ripped before ($20 minimum per month even if we did no transactions).

If you have a business with a business phone number, you'll probably get a good number of solicators looking to sell to credit processing services anyway. In other words, a lot of times they come to you instead of it having to be the other way around ;)

I also use PayPal. Our shopping cart adds all the taxes, shipping cost, discount, coupon, etc., and just forward the total to PayPal. The customer can user either a PayPal account or their credit card to pay for the amount. The total fee comes out to be about 3%.

I know a couple of companies with similar pricing structures and no percentage fees, so there might not be.
