My partner and I have created a few Boston Based sports Tee's and we wanted to sell them outide of Fenway park. Well, after a week of trying to find out what kind of licencing we would need I finally called Boston city hall. After I asked what I needed to get a "peddler's licence" the woman said "this is'nt for Fenway Park is it?" She then went on to say that they have a 3 mile ban on peddlers. I can understand if they don't want you to sell right outisde the park but...c'mon. This seems a bit prohibitive and even more BS. Anyone else ever tried vending outisde of a park...without having your booty confiscated? Tips..trick??
You have to remember that the park generates a lot of revenue for the city and they need to have a handle on that. If they let every Tom, **** and Glen to sell they lose control of the souvenir revenue. Your best bet is to find a sports store that will take your tees. It would be like you selling popcorn outside a movie house.. I can assure you you will be removed very quickly. Their lawyers are bigger than your lawyers..
Yeah, I understand the "right outside" part...but if I want to sell within 3 miles there is nothing they can say to me that would diminish my belief that this is Big Business thumping the little guy.
I understand not right out side thei door, but not 3 miles away. What happened to free enterprise. What is stopping another business from moving an additional 3 miles from ther door too. If you're not careful you might get stuck in another state. I think this is restriction of free trade. It makes me mad that the wealthypowerful people control what the masses do. I have to step down off of my soap box and re-group . Good luck .. JB
There not talking about you selling tee shirts within 3 miles. They are talking about selling team related" tee shirts. anything that resembles their team name or logo.. If you want to sell "I love baseball" I don't think you would have a problem. Just don't do it outside their stadium.
Yeah, it really is the "I love Baseball" type of shirts. I am fully aware of the copyright laws and know the fine lines. I did find a loophole in the last hour. If you know a business owner you can get permission to sell right outseide his/her establishment...even if it is ten feet from the ball park's front door. So I just went from looking for a "Peddler's" licence to a "Hawker's" licence. Jeeesh! More hoops. And thanks for the comments...helps the venting process.
