Default Any Microsoft Office gurus? Having a small problem with tables...

I'm working on a return form, and having problem with tables.

I need to make a table that is 4 sections, 2 columns by 2 rows. My problem is the row break. I need the two to be independent or separate of each other. I've attached a picture of what I'm trying to do, figuratively.

Anyone will to help? Please drop me a PM or e-mail address and I'll send it off! Thanks in advance!

Did you try the "Draw Table" button? So far that's the only way I was able to create a table like your sketch.

I just got a call after I sent the email... looks like I might have to run in a few. Here are the directions for creating the table in MS Word 2002. I believe it should work the same for other versions.

1. On menubar, select Table | Insert | Table. This will open the Insert Table dialog box.

2. Enter the following:

Number of columns = 2
Number of rows = 4
AutoFit behavior = Fixed column width: Auto

Click ok to save and exit the dialog box.

3. Highlight all the cells in the table. Then on menu select Table | Table Properties. This will open the Table Properites dialog box.

4. Click on the Row tab.

5. Under "Size" Check the box Rows Specify Height and enter 2". Click ok to save and exit the dialog box.

6. Highlight the first two cells in column one. On the menubar, select Table | Merge Cells.

7. Highlight the last two cells in column one. On the menubar, select Table | Merge Cells.

8. Highlight the first three cells in column two. On the menubar, select Table | Merge Cells.

All done.

You can vary the values as needed, but this will teach you the general principle. I hope this helps. Email me if you have any questions (or post them here) and I'll answer them when I get back home.

Awesome. Thank you very much I appreciate the help. It's kinda funny really, that's more complicated then it has to be. Of course, were all used to such simple procedures. Very easy once its laid out though. Thanks again!
