Default Why small polyester content in heather grey?

Hiya,

I'm quite new to the t-shirt industry and I'm currently putting together a brochure. But something that's puzzling me is why do most (all?) manufacturers put a small percentage of polyester in the heather/ash grey shirts when the rest of the range is 100% cotton?

I'm sure its pretty obvious but I can't figure it out and I'd love to know.

Cheers
Photovoltage

I believe it has to do with making that specific color not real sirt.
Ash. Athletic Heather and sports grey shirts are all poly blends with a small portion being poly. If you want a solid gray youll need to look at the premium colors of the various brands

I'm not worried about the actual colour - Just intrigued why they would include polyester!

Sorry for bumping up this thread. A customer recently asked for an ash grey shirt that is 100% cotton and I am unable to find one via my supply links.

He was curious why they invariably contain small amount of polyester but I've not been able to offer him a satisfactory answer. The gildan's I have contain 1% polyester 99% cotton and for the life of me, I cannot figure out the benefit it would provide.
