Default Legal Status of Company
Hello,
I would like to start a shirt stop in California and I would like to know the best legal status I should apply for and what taxes, fees I need to pay for the company, as a retailer...and anything else I legally need.

A good first stop would be your local chamber of commerce, they will help you with any business filings that you need (since it will vary from city to city).
