Maybe you could also expand on that comment to share what you feel seems "phony" about the company. It might help them to improve their campaign to make it clearer.
We're here to be helpful
So while it's nice to share your opinion, it can also be beneficial to share *why* you have that opinion so others can improve

I think that the video is very well made.
Things that they may want to consider....
People are real skeptical when it comes to a new product or idea. If these people have a patten on their product or idea, then they should show us the process, we can’t steel it..?
What is their primary intent? Are they selling "us" the technology, or are they targeting big companies? So, how does this help, me, the little guy?
They are asking for money to fund their project, but are excusing themselves by sending you a product. This lets them off the hook by selling you a product. They can always come back with “we didn’t raise enough money to release it....?
Maybe they can tell the public how much they have raised so far...?
I am all for new inventions, so go for it. But, when asking for money, the public will want some transparency.

Good point.
Again, I'm not them, but one possible reason I could think of why they don't want to go into *too much* details right away is the fact that people still *could* steal the idea. The Patent just means that they would have to spend money legally defending the patent against infringers instead of money developing it more.

Great questions, I also hope they expand on this more

One note on this. The way the kickstarter fundraising works is that if they don't raise enough money, nobody gets charged anything. It's a "pledge" of support and it's only valid if they reach their goal. I think that also might be one reason why they are focusing a lot of energy trying to reach that goal on kickstarter.

This is actually shown on their kickstarter page here. As of this moment they've raised $6454 of their $12,000 goal.
Kickstarter is basically a way for people to support projects that interest them (films, music, writers, technology, etc) so that the independent producers don't have to rely on big corporations to get their projects funded.
There are so many great ideas out there that never happen of many reasons...funding being one of them. So this puts the power back into the hands of the people. If you like an idea, you can help make it a reality, and if enough people feel the same way, it can happen.
The funding that they are looking to receive through Kickstarter will finance the last of the R & D stage and enable them to start collaborating with photographers and fashion brands to test the creative capabilities of their product.

Now come on. How many people come on here and ask about doing a design but don't want to post it cuz they are afraid it might get stolen ? It be copyrighted right ? No one would steal a copyrighted design right ?
If they have a patent then you know the companys name why not go look it up if you want to know the process so bad ? If patented its out there for you to find.
And if your intersted in being a investor then contact them directly. I'm guessing if you got 6 figures to drop they would give you more details on it. But for 50.00 bucks be real.
And on the kickstarter page it tells you how much the raised. I think 6grand out of their 12grand goal.
They don't need to tell ya anything they don't wish to. So deal with it and quit crying about that they need to.

Good luck to them.

Chill out Mark,
I only posted reasons that people "would feel it is a scam"
Re: Interesting new photo-realistic apparel printing method - Lumi Co
i definitely dont feel that this is a scam but information is definitely sparse at this point. That should be to expected when they are trying revolutionize how shirts are printed,
Re: Interesting new photo-realistic apparel printing method - Lumi Co
New technology is always good, I am interested to see where this leads, if I had more info I may be an investor in it, but kickstarter is more of a small purchase than investment. Im still hoping spot chimes in on light and spin casting too.
Re: Interesting new photo-realistic apparel printing method - Lumi Co
The same occurred to me that it was an emulsion process almost as if exposing light onto the shirt. Like a camera exposing a picture onto film only 1000 times bigger.
Re: Interesting new photo-realistic apparel printing method - Lumi Co
I am 95% sure I know what their doing, and it does have some major limitations, full color not happening, I dont think dark colors are an option, and production printing would take some major cost and space, which seems to not be a problem for them.
Re: Interesting new photo-realistic apparel printing method - Lumi Co
Way back in my days as a photographer, I used to use a photo liquid like what would be on photo paper and in a darkroom with a brush put it on any thing that had a flat surface like a shirt or a plate. Then expose it after it had dried using my enlarger, process it as I did with photo paper and you had a picture. Back then you only had B&W but who knows now.
Re: Interesting new photo-realistic apparel printing method - Lumi Co
So many lost printing techniques. I was also thinking the photo emulsion. The goggles say UV light and the spray guns speak for themselves as do the rubber gloves. I think if they just moved in together they would have the money in a couple months.
