I ran a little survey through twitter a few months ago, asking my followers what they considered most when buying a t-shirt. They responded, in no particular order of importance:
1) Fit
2) Exclusivity
3) Branding
4) Overall design
As for my personal opinion, the most important thing for me is the fit of the shirt. Since I'll be wearing the shirt all day, it better be comfortable. I don't want to wear a shirt that is awkwardly baggy around the torso or insanely tight around the arms.
If a shirt doesn't fit right and the lines are off with the person wearing it then it will soon get tossed in the closet and not worn after a few days.
Sure the design grabs the eye but why would you want to put your design on a shirt that won't be worn in public?
Think Levis 501 jeans.
They FIT and have been going strong for years.
I don't care about the label or the indigo color or what people think. I want the most comfortable jeans that I can buy and the cost doesn't matter. I know the product and will return to it when it is time to buy more pairs.
What makes Abercrombie's stuff Sell?
(forget if you like it or Not.)
IMO both are equal
Visual appeal (the LOOK) to the buyer and the feel.
1. it has to look good and catch your eye THEN it has to feel good before you EVER try it on.
THEN fit kicks in.
and remember it can LOOK like it is going to FEEL really good!
1. The fit: It has to look good on you.
2. The material: It has to look good after it's washed.
3. The substance of the shirt: Creative, new, funny, something that is gonna make people look at it.... 1 Ball Product List
Fit is the most important thing for me. I'll try on something because of the design, but if it doesn't fit well I won't buy it. I'll just go to my second and 3rd design choice.
It has to be comfortable and look good. I dont care if it's $5 or $50, if it's uncomfortable or ugly, I'm not wearing it. (same goes for Walmart brand shirts or Ed Hardy) (not that I like either of those, just giving an extreme range)
