how do you guys figure in pricing in able to give someone a quote?
hey I'm just trying to decide how to charge for my first job. If I'm getting the shirts for about $2.80 a piece and printing one left chest logo and one back logo, both out of white. . . I guess my question is. . . where do I make my money back and make a profit??? What kind of fees do you charge. . . Like this customer will be a repeat buyer. . . so do I charge a screen storage fee because I know he'll use the same screens next time? Any help would be great!

$2.80 a piece?! What kind of shirts? Check out S&S or SanMar... Hanes Beefy Tees are $1.25 - $1.75.
Re: how do you guys figure in pricing in able to give someone a quote?
set up yourself a pricing guide - just for printing...that way your prices are consistent and your customers will know how much there job will always be. same for t-shirts pick a set price for certain styles you always use, that way you always know your profit margin and sometime you may come out more ahead if your supplier is having a sale.
consistency is key, if you have a set pricing in place that way you know your always making a profit. spend the time making a price list that covers your overhead and what you need to make to remain profitable.
look on the internet to see if any of your local printers have there price list so you know whats your competition.
you should not be paying $2.80 for a white shirt, unless your paying piece pricing.
we charge $3.00 for white shirts no matter what... im telling consistency is key in pricing
you should charge $25.00 for the screen and $10.00 for film output, those are initial charges and when he re-orders you dont charge him...always keep his film on file and reclaim the screen and keep reusing it
Re: how do you guys figure in pricing in able to give someone a quote?
thanks for the input on reusing the screen. I was trying to decide weather to reclaim it or just stor it, but reusing the film sounds much less bulky.
Also my shirts are actually $2.26 each (2 dzn XL, 1 dzn Lg, and 1 dzn Med. . . all black shirts) they are Gildan heavy 100% cottom tees. Then I'm paying $20.49 for UPS Ground to ship them. The customer is the owner @ my full time job, so I'm making shirts that I would actually like to wear (cuz I'm kinda picky about wearing white shirts.) so I'm designing them and even giving hime a discount so I can put my logo somewhere on them.

$2.26 is still way too high. You can save yourself $.75 a shirt if you go to a different supplier. Maybe even more if they have free shipping.
But then again if this is a one time thing it's probably not worth the time and effort.

who would you suggest as a supplier for blank tee's? i am a start up and have a pricing (for print only) list and I have checked out the local competition. I am a few pennies lower, but I plan on marking up the shirts about 20-25%.
